- Please don’t ask us how classes are going. The answer is going to be “fine” just about every time you ask because we don’t want to break the news of how utterly horrifying the last week or two with finals went. Vet school is hard and we eat and breathe it every day. Being home for break is best enjoyed when we don’t need to be reminded about classes.
- A water bottle. My most prized possession for my long days in class is my Yeti water bottle. Keeping ice all day and staying cold is exactly what I need to get me through days of 8 hours lectures. It’s additionally nice when it’s customized with your name!
- Most of our budgets get tight right before we leave for winter break. This leaves us with meal prepping spaghetti for the third week in a row and look forward to a nice home-cooked meal with family.
- Snuggle time with pets. This one might be surprising. Though we are veterinary students, most of us are not surrounded by animals every day, it is nice to come home to pets and relieve some of the stress we’ve been caring for the past couple weeks.
- A Netflix subscription. Or Hulu. Or HBO. Anything really. For our break, many of us become couch potatoes and want to catch up on our favorite TV shows. This will let us decompress from the semester and may allow us to continue to make time for ourselves when the Spring semester starts back up.
